A Very Inorganic Love Story

In January I went to a screening of Super 8 films as part of the Straight 8 programme in the London Short Film Festival. We loved the programme - analogue X short films, what’s not to love! - but were disappointed at the fact that every featured filmmaker present was a man.

So we did the obvious thing: we made a Straight 8 film with a team of lots of women (and some men).

We shot it over a few hours at the rural home of the script supervisor’s parents, and the writer/director and myself ended up starring in it. Low budget stuff. And irrelevant as it turned out, since our silly film was selected from 150 submissions to be in the top 8 films, and we all went to Cannes for 24 hours to see it premiere.
