November 2021
I started this month in Turkey, with a week in Istanbul for work that was welcome and stimulating - a football match, a hamam bath, incredible food and a much-missed taste of travel. I wrote about it here. The rest of the month was spent at work and at study, catching up with friends by the sea and in the pub and over home-cooked meals, crunching autumn leaves beneath my Docs, patting dogs familiar and new, etc etc. The good stuff.
favourite film: A New York Christmas Wedding, an absolutely deranged film featuring a dead gay fetus in the form of an angel and the most unconvincing lesbian chemistry known to the screen
favourite book: Daisy Johnson’s swampy Fen
favourite art: Sarah Morris’s art film of Osaka industry at the White Cube
favourite theatre: little scratch at Hampstead Theatre was not an entertaining experience, but has very much stuck with me
favourite podcast: Sweet Bobby from Tortoise Media, a catfishing tale like no other
